My priorities for a daytime caf would be one with a sea view, easy for parking, sofas or easy chairs, inside and outside seating, good quality sandwiches or cakes and staff who know how to make customers welcome.

Re: Old Childhood Haunts
Tunnels and caves were my favourite places in the early 60s. I remember crawling along the larger caves at Rock Anore using home made candles to light the way. The tunnels that the stream runs through in Alexandra Park were also fun places to explore although some have now been fenced off to prevent...

I remember Coombs Motors being there. They closed down about 15 years ago. Someone who was clearing the premises invited me in to see if I wanted to buy any of the remaining equipment including a safe with no key - really useful! I seem to remember that they had petrol pumps at the front of the prem...

Re: Coffee Stall at Hastings main or Warrior Square Station
I do seem to remember a small refreshment kiosk on the platform at Warrior Square. If you were quick, you could jump off the train get a cup of tea and get back on the train before it left. The only cafe i recall at Hastings Station was in the main station building (now demolished of course). No ide...

Re: Council Cutbacks
What a sad, depressing tourist information centre we now have at the Hastings town hall. Information leaflets have been relegated to a bland, almost empty side room with no staff presence there to offer assistance. What a welcome for visitors! I have been there a couple of times and find it to be a ...
