Re: Help?
I was in a similar situation, although I was moving down from London. (Yes yes I know). Although I've also lived in Brighton. I'd compare St Leonards to the London Road area of Brighton. You do see a bit of dodginess, but it's also quite interesting, and it's no worse than anywhere else. I looked at...

Re: Street opinions: Cornwallis Gardens, Warrior Sq and other?
Oh and the streets around Priory Rd can sometimes be busy with traffic as they are used as a 'rat run'...something to keep in mind.

Re: Street opinions: Cornwallis Gardens, Warrior Sq and other?
I moved to st Leonards from sw London and couldn't be happier. The kenilworth rd/'seven streets' area has lots of rented flats, and that's why it has a bit of a reputation. However I've lived here for over a year and I've seen nothing particularly untoward. Locals moan a bit about crime/drugs etc bu...

Re: Slow housing market
The estate agents down here are dire! And I've personally experienced most of them, the independents and all the high street ones. I was trying to move here from london from 2013 and had two properties fall through before I finally managed to secure a home - 18 months later! The agents don't seem to...

Re: Another Londoner, and a crafty business
A craft cafe sounds brilliant. There are a few craft workshops and drop in places in St Leonards. There are also short courses advertised in the window of the Hastings Art Forum. Might be worth a look to see what kind of things are popular. Good luck! I moved to St Leonards from south west London ab...

Re: What you wish you had been told BEFORE you moved!
That the church bell ringers in St Leonards are pretty enthusiastic on a Sunday morning! :) Not something I'd ever considered before, not having lived in a place near so many churches, but sometimes they can be quite loud. Of course, having moved from London, it's much nicer to be woken by bells rat...

GPs surgery
Not a trader a such, but I wasn't sure where else to post this. I am moving to St Leonards and would like to know if anyone could recommend a local doctor. Or at least let me know if there are any I should avoid. Thanks!

Re: Damp
Thanks Richard and Derek for your advice. One of the flats I like has damp midway along the hallway wall that joins the next terrace. I'll take someone knowledgable along to have a look. I do Appreciate your quick responses.

Damp
I'm looking to buy a terrace flat in St Leonards, and I notice that (like other seaside towns), many flats I have viewed suffer with varying degrees of damp. Does anyone have any good cost effective suggestions on how to remedy damp issues? I know it depends on the type of damp and property, but it ...
