Re: Slow housing market

There are definitely properties about at that price, but I totally agree with what you say about the Hastings Agents. We bought a 'proper' house down here last year having had a holiday home for 10+ years. I was quite amazed at the agent's lack of urgency when trying to arrange appointments. This wa...

Re: A good carpenter to supply/fit dividing doors?

Some good ideas there Richard. We already have a doorway type opening between the two rooms, it just requires the doors fitting. As it has never had doors (and is non-standard size) they will need to be made to measure or adjusted to fit. Although curtain would be very nice, they won't create a soun...

Re: A good carpenter to supply/fit dividing doors?

Hi Geoff,

Thanks for that. Funnily enough I saw their advert in the local rag and they looked like the sort of thing I wanted - but as you know a bit of local knowledge never hurts.

I will let you know how I get on - and if anyone else has an ace carpenter in their collection...

A good carpenter to supply/fit dividing doors?

The time has come when open plan living no longer suits our needs. I am looking for a good carpenter that could supply and fit a decent set of dividing doors. We want the ones that hinge in the middle and then fold back against the wall - possibly called piano hinges? Not sure on the style - whether...

That living on a hill means that your street (picturesque in other circumstances) would resemble The River Wild once it rains - today was Somerset Levels, eat your heart out day in Blacklands. ;)

I agree with Tarmar about the sirens though... :D

A bit late - but Sains on the '21 has loads of them in. A post Christmas treat perhaps?

Re: Old Town Blues Club

A rare log-in to say how much I enjoyed Miller Anderson and the Prisonaires last time they played at The Standard. A very talented bunch, relaxed and having a good time in the way only expert musicians with no egos can. The erm; 'intimate' venue was packed, but the atmosphere was genial, with the 'r...

Re: Eversfield Place

The Morrisons in Hastings is very civilised; a lot nicer than my old local in London, with a good butchery and surprising variety. There is also a Sains and an M&S with a large(ish) food hall and in that vicinity there are a few eclectic food stores in the little covered arcade. In the Old Town ...

Libraries are often quite good for computer help. Might be worth asking there. :)

Re: Eversfield Place

I live in hope that a cheaper quick rail service will arrive. I am lucky in that I can work from home a couple of days a week and I drive to London the other day. For me it costs about the same and at least I am master of my own destiny. Talking of horses for courses, here is the pricier bijou versi...
