Re: EU Elections

The reasons for Labour's PFI initiatives were simple. Massive investment in 'our' NHS and the kudos that goes with that but you the finance has come from elsewhere and does not therefore appear on the UK's balance sheet as capital expenditure. It was hire-purchase writ large.

Re: EU Elections

I saw the American ambassador saying that if their chicken was allowed into our markets it would be the consumer's choice whether they bought it or not. He went on to say that the US gets about 5 million British visitors a year and that many of then will eat chicken during their stay. He said he cou...

Re: EU Elections

Obama didn't only 'urge' us to remain as part of the EU he issued the threat that if we left we would be 'at the back of the queue' for a deal with the USA. What made his unwanted intervention even worse was that it came about from a direct request by our hapless PM David Cameron. As Rochard points ...

Re: EU Elections

Richard - your first paragraph encapsulates everything that Remainers have been saying and doing for nearly three years. I would just point out that you and people pushing this bogus line ARE the problem. As regards referenda not having to be binary, of course not, but this one WAS. It was a questio...

Re: EU Elections

At the risk of boring you completely, I will repeat - the referendum presented a clear and binary question to the electorate. The Prime Minister of the day said that his government would honour the result. The decision was made but The Establishment did not like the answer and so from that day (near...

Re: EU Elections

Should that day ever come about Richard - find somewhere to hide - the outrage will be such that the yellow vest stuff in France will appear tame. I can assume only that you have not come across the mounting anger of those who are being ignored.

Re: EU Elections

John Bercow has long demeaned the position of Speaker. That is all.

Re: EU Elections

My suggestion of a 10 year maximum of course has faults in that, as you say seahermit, it would discard the able too. But we have far more seat-blockers than the able in this Parliament and I would say for at least the last ten years that has been the case. The people who are able to stand and get el...

Re: EU Elections

The disconnect between MPs and 'ordinary' people is mindblowing. I honestly believe we need a whole new batch of politicians - people with some life and work experience. I don't count 3 years at a ((university)) followed by employment either with a trade union or a 'researcher' for an MP in any way ...
