Re: Tunbridge Wells to Hastings

That's great, you must indeed be quite excited! There will always be problems of course and setbacks - the thing is to not be fazed - if you really want change and want something to work out, you will find a way. You might find it useful to look at hastingsonlinetimes.co.uk - apart from being a very...

Re: Jazzing up the 1066 Forum

There are indeed a lot of arts and recreational activities around Hastings (and a lot of talented people) but it is all fragmented and unco-ordinated. There is no real arts centre (every town I can think of has a proper arts centre!), the Council does not take any kind of lead or listen to what the ...

Jazzing up the 1066 Forum

Well, what I mean is that, having finally acquired a shiny, up-to-date Acer desktop with Windows 10, massive storage for all my photos etc. .. I am raring to get back into gear online with my usual obsessions. (Tons to sort out still on the PC, software to install etc. - a busy winter ahead for me I...

Re: Tunbridge Wells to Hastings

Sorry that you haven't had a response yet to your post on the Forum. Unusual, but maybe with the onset of the cold weather people are struggling with getting their central heating systems going ..! I'm no expert on properties but I have been here for sixteen years (ex-Londoner) and know a bit about ...

Re: Problems setting up new PC

Incidentally, I managed to delete the reference to "Office" in the Start menu (was just a short-cut tile!) but it isn't possible to pin my Office 2010 suite to the Start menu - you can only pin individual programs , Word etc., to the menu. I was hoping to make searching down the list a bit...

Re: Problems setting up new PC

I'm all hooked up to Sky Broadband on the new PC and , so far, it's working fine. Switching to Sky was fast and seemed very efficient and smooth. Only line rental to pay for during the first year and I get £100 on a Mastercard!! Handy cos I've spent a fortune .. But a host of issues to sort out of c...

Re: Problems setting up new PC

Thanks Richard. Most providers of course have to rely on the BT lines for basic broadband and some problems are inevitable sooner or later. However, Sky seems to be near the top of the popularity list for customer service - best of a bad lot maybe! Vodafone has had a very bad press lately, been heav...

Re: Problems setting up new PC

Thanks a lot Richard. I'm a bit wary of John Lewis, they seem disorganised, kept me waiting for over a week for a delivery date for the PC, then just twelve hours notice! I think I'm going to plump for Sky, they are obviously trying to compete with the similar PlusNet offer. I'll try deleting the en...

Problems setting up new PC

Well, getting the hardware is just the beginning of the hard work! I managed to get a pretty decent Acer Aspire desktop, nice big 24-inch monitor, massive RAM and HD storage. Windows 10 seems to work pretty well and not too big a jump from Windows 7. But inevitably a lot of starting hiccups. I manag...

Re: Patchy mobile coverage in Hastings/St Leonards

Postscript to the above. They do have a problem - the Warrior Square mast (didn't know there was one) is out of action. But after four days, they don't know when it will be fixed. Does it really take so long in modern times to sort out a thing like this? What do small businessess do, and other peopl...
