Further to my previous post.....I did eventually catch up with the artist displaying their paintings at the coffee shop (opp the old swimming baths). Having met Pauline Allwood (who signs PA to her work), i managed to secure one of her very nice paintings, which now takes pride of place above my fir...

Found 2 bobs worth of old pennies once metal detecting on a spring tide at the end of the pier. They were only just identifiable though as they had been buried in the abrasive sand and black silt for decades. Still got them somewhere.

Does anyone know the artist who signs PA on paintings? I have recently visited the new coffee & chocolate shop which has just opened opposite the old swimming bathes, next to Rockies amusements, and inside is a display of pictures all painted by the same artist. Would anyone know if this is a lo...

Does anyone remember a shop called Dickies Discount Store, which was on The Ridge about 35 to 40 years ago? It was the first of it's kind in this area and was very popular. I think the building still exists.....if you look at number 135, i believe that's the same building. I vaguely recognized it by the large window above the entrance to the accommodation........if you look at the building now it still has the same tiles on the sills,and although the window is differen...
