If it helps I'm not a Londoner by birth. :? I know what you mean though and I'd imagine Hastings may lose what made it special in the first place - I guess things like highspeed rail will "help" with that too.

For the past 16 years I've been living in a poxy 2-bedroom flat in Finsbury Park, but unlike you, I've really come to detest London and what it's become over the past few years - a mecca for rich kids and foreign investors. I'm in a similar boat, moving from London to St Leonards this summer. Out of the six or seven flats I viewed recenctly there was only one flat with sea views and an outdoor space that I really liked. Looks like there was more on offer around the same time last year.
