Thank you all for the responses. Its strange how the changing shop fronts and redesigns can make identifying where the original photographer stood tricky!

It looks as if they are marching away from the Queens Hotel towards Havelock Road with the corner of Robertson St in the mid distance. The Provincial was at 18 Havelock Road which should enable the building to be identified. Quite a few of the buildings have had a new frontages, and in very recent ...

Hi there, I'm working on a series of images on behalf of East Sussex Council as part of their commemoration of WW1.
