I just looked at it again and realised that this is the avoidable death rate for MEN in Hastings. The rate for women in Hastings is about half that!

Scandalous.
IRT to the income column - that's the "rank" of deprivation. It means we're only 30 places away from being the most deprived place in the UK (30th worst out of 211).

Hastings housing history
I was talking to someone the other day and they mentioned that an estate was built in Hastings (in the 60's?) specially for people to move down from London. Does anyone know anything about this? It was also said that originally you could only move onto the estate if you already had a job down here, ...
