Re: moving to Bohemia road ?

Hi Joanne, welcome to the forums and welcome to Hastings. It must be worrying moving from everything you know and are familiar with to a completely new town. But, this is a nice place to be. Many people who have moved from London and elsewhere have popped into these forums to say how much they like ...

Re: moving to Bohemia road ?

Your fiance will soon make new friends. Hastings is a really friendly town. Yes Summerfields woods are lovely, with some beautiful features, like the mock Roman bath and the Ice house. And, as Magdelene said, its a good short cut from your area down to the town centre. What sorts of things is your f...

Re: moving to Bohemia road ?

Hi Brett, and welcome. Bohemia Road is a very busy main road which runs directly to the town centre. It has an array of shops and takeaways, of which the fish shop next to the chemist is excellent, and a curry house, which is ok. the chinese is a bit hit and miss. loads of pizza houses. not sure wha...

Re: hasting pier ?_ _ _

I absolutely agree with you Chris. I love Hastings, but the council have always disregarded architectural history in favour of modern (crass) development. Next time your down, be sure to view the Hastings Observer building in Cambridge road, its a gem, but the council are going to demolish it before...

Hi Chris. The Hastings Pier debacle is a real hot potato. Best place to read about it is on the Hastings Today pages online. Think you can find it at www.Hastingstoday.co.uk, scroll down and theres a whole section deta...

Re: st leonards pier ?

Hi Crazy, you know im not sure. I've had a look at some old photos but from the angle at which they are taken it's really difficult to tell. I didn't think it was that far west but you may well be right. Scant info on the net about this. Interesting that it was cut in half during the war. But Hastin...

Re: st leonards pier ?

Hi Chirs.St Leonards Pier was opened by Lord and Lady Brassey in 1891. Its exact location im not sure of but it was around the Warrior Square area but it could have been further west as that would have been awfully close to the Hastings pier.(Sorry, that's not very helpful is it!) The pier was damam...

Re: Looking To Move To Hastings / St Leonards

Have a look at the following local property sites : Rush Witt and Wilson; Just Property; and John Bray and sons. You're budget is huge for this town, you could get an amazing place!!! Definitely look at John Brays site. I would recommend Old Town Hastings, or the area of St Leonards called Burtons S...

Re: Looking To Move To Hastings / St Leonards

Caz, it really isn't that bad!! Take a look at some of the mails from people who live in the Town, their enthusiasm and love of Hastings and St Leonards must tell you another story! I've lived here since I was 8. We left South London because of the crime (this was mid 80's). Yes, Hastings has had it...
