Re: Citizenship

Sajid Javid was aiming his actions to the hard right of his party. He also claimed that it would not be safe for a Consular official to travel to the refugee camp, yet the Times reporter was able to get there and has interviewed her at least twice.. This last weekend the British solicitor who is rep...

Re: Citizenship

Richard, you did not respond to my point that Shamina went with two friends together, rather than two following her, thus missing the issue that some people repeating things that they believe to be facts are untrue, although repeated, unwittingly. You raise an important point about the breakdown of ...

Re: Citizenship

Richard, with all due respect, you don't know what her parents did or did not do and cannot say whether the parents were inadequate. It is quite possible that the young girl as she then was may not have disclosed her true thoughts to them. I mentioned previously that bits of pieces of information ge...

Re: Citizenship

British society needs to examine where it failed a young girl in that she was able to become convinced that at that age (she would not be able to consent to sex in the UK) that she should get married and become a bearer of children to the exclusion of all else as Daesh women tend as far as I am awar...

Re: Independence Day

Oh honestly Northants, do you understand anything about contemporary politics post 1989? Russia is no longer a left orientated regime; it is firmly rooted on the right of politics embedded in capitalism and shady deals between oligarchs who often come to Britain not to meet with left organisations b...

Re: Independence Day

Mr Farage is the stigma of UKIP. Perhaps not as pure as the current leader but he is the one who said he feels 'uncomfortable' (?) on his train from London to Kent hearing foreign voices, or living next to some Romanians. I expect that he might find an exception to Romanian oligarchs out for a good ...

Re: Religion and Politics

Richard, You used the terms 'alien to us' towards the end of the piece in relation to the Jewish faith. Who constitutes 'us'?. I am atheist, writing from the heart of the Jewish, Muslim and other groups in Gateshead. The local Jewish community has been established here for over 120 years. Their reli...

Re: Independence Day

You have obviously never worked in immigration law otherwise you would not trot out the standard "why they can repeat perfectly what they have been coached to say to gain refugee status." And then this "even though anyone with eyes to see could see they were well past childhood"....

Re: Independence Day

cbe Let us be very clear. Migrants are wholly a different category of people to refugees; the latter of whom are unable to remain in their original country. You are being wholly disingenuous in aligning the two different groups. My simple point was that in a binary choice situation, the 'losing' sid...
