Re: Paving Studs

No, I don't think so - they are too far from the outermost parts of the shops to be within any curtilage. I didn't count the frequency of the studs yesterday (one stud per x number of paving slabs), but I would think that they are regularly spaced.

Eurovision Song Contest

Isn't it about time the BBC pulled its financial support from this execrable event? This isn't a knee-jerk reaction because the UK finished in bottom place last night, it's simply a plea for the BBC to spend OUR money on something more worthwhile?

Re: Extinction Rebellion

Oddly enough, I'm currently re-reading "1984" for the umpteenth time and had to laugh when I read your post, cbe. I think that Orwell, writing in 1948 had a good sense of the way in which certain things might move, such as re-writing the language and erasing all historic references to topi...

Re: St Rode, London Road, Hastings

It remained as a surgery until at least the mid 1950s. After that, I don't know.

Re: St Rode, London Road, Hastings

I think you'll find that it's the building that stands opposite the bus stop at Silverhill (the bus stop by the butcher's shop). Years ago, it was a surgery (St. Rhode's Surgery) and I was a patient there as a very young boy. The eagles (I think they were eagles) on the gateposts scared me witless!

Re: Pier

I have resided in the town for all of my life and have never know the pier to close off-season. Indeed, it couldn't be easily closed before the gates and fences were installed. It sounds like a penny-pinching exercise to me, after all zero-hours contract staff are easy to hire and fire at will aren'...
