Okay, looking good. Both KMT and BumblePee would like to help out. No commitment, just help people out if you can.

Well, I'm gratified that I seem to have sparked quite a bit of interest here, thanks for all the responses. I'll try to spell out my problems later, it's hard to explain to someone who is quite comfortable with computers .. in the meantime I'll just add my two penceworth about St Leonard's. Like Hastings, it's a funny mixed-up area, some quite dubious streets not far away from really nice tree-lined avenues. My friend is in Dane Road, some very nice cultured people around and never any trouble. The centre of St L. is a bit scruffy (especially in the evenings) but the seafront is lovely, good restaurants and bars, numerous art galleries and antique shops nearby. I moved from London - best thing I did for many years.

One last thought for tonight - I should really have posted my comments on Dane Road and area in another thread, perhaps where BumblePee first mentioned his projected move to St Leonard's - beg your pardon, you can tell I'm rusty at this game. But I'm sure BumblePee will spot my comments here anyway, don't know if they will help .. I'm sure he'll be very glad he jumped in and opted for St Leonard's. Look at the sunsets lately!

More on my computer hangups tomorrow.
