Rambling & Cycling Routes

Are you at all nervous about cycling on the roads in Hastings/St Leonards and want somewhere much safer.

1. There are some (long overdue) 20 mph traffic zones being considered to make certain roads much safer.

2. 'Greenway routes' are being planned to link Hastings Station Plaza to the 'Parker road' campus in Ore Valley in one direction.
Silverhill and Hollington in the other, with a further link up to The Ridge and the Conquest Hospital.

These routes will allow cyclists, ramblers and wheelchar users to enjoy a safer outdoor environment.
Otherwise where is it safe unless you happen to have access to the Country Parks ?
or the 'Promenade' between Hastings and St Leonards ?

I hear there are plans for a designated cycle path through Alexandra Park. Anyone heard anything more about this? Sounds like a great idea to me.

Yes, I hear that that is part of the new schemes - presumably it is currently against the rules.
Call me 'chicken' but I am too nervous of the traffic to cycle on the roads these days, so any new schemes will be more than welcomed.

Me too! Enjoy a bike ride but the roads can be a bit scary.

Apparently the current ruling on bikes is that it's okay to ride in the upper park but not the lower. This applies to dogs off leads too.

The council, in partnership with East Sussex County Council, is considering introducing cycling along a clearly designated route in Alexandra Park.
There is a consulting period of 10 weeks between 15 June 2015 and 21 August 2015 and they want to know if you think the proposed route is safe, well signed and allows for easy access.
