Hi,
In response to Gerry, Time Team may have found the site for the first engagement of the day but so far no one has found the site of the second engagement and the "Malfosse" incident. I think I know where that might be but living in Norway I have no chance of metal detecting on the site. I have written to the farmer of the land but as yet I have had no response.

The only group I know of in the Hastings area is the Hastings and Area Archaeological Research Group (HAARG). They undertake both metal detecting and other "geo phys" activities. As they get many "hints" as to where to dig for early medieval stuff they're not interested in my proposed site.

I do know someone who metal detects in the Hastings area but I will get his permission to release his name before doing so.

Happy sweeping!
