I myself wouldn't touch Specsavers. Poor experiences in the past, also an elderly friend of mine reported that they tried to scare him into buying new specs, saying that the wrong specs would lead to permanent damage to his sight. Nonsense! Just a bit of eye- strain maybe.

Where things like this are concerned, I think the safest bet is the proper one, even if that costs a bit more. I found W.W. and Hancock efficient, very courteous and unrushed. (My smartphone corrected that last word to "unfurnished" - not true, the shop was pleasant and not at all downmarket!).

Not Kassa ever!

Specsavers are okay-ish but were recently a bit dismissive of my concerns (a persistent spot wherever I looked) explaining it as part of normal shrinkage of the gel inside the eyeball.
They were not sympathetic at all and would not refer me to hospital and they seemed to take on the role of the G.P., acting as the gatekeeper to the NHS.
Apparently the 'gel' does indeed shrink and where it sticks to the back of the eye, the retina, it can tear the wall slightly and cause strange geometric shapes to appear in the peripheral vision also.
I was not happy with my dismissal with age-related, normal, and to be expected, so I visited my GP and obtained a hospital appointment, last March, just when the virus precautions were taking root.
The hospital eye specialist outlined the situation in more detail and I had to look some of the terms up on google to form a clearer picture.
I was told they would monitor the situation but if I had a large shape that suddenly blocked part of my vision I should return as an emergency admission straight away as that would mean detachment of the retina! (from 'gel' shrinkage, as above).

Sounds like they stepped on your toes?

I've heard quite the opposite
