You need to know the chances of a private insurance plan sanctioning expensive medication for a serious illness before the NHS is able to prescribe it free of charge to the wider population.
I thinks 'NICE' have to agree the cost to the NHS depending on the usefulness of the drug compared to alternatives.

Many drugs are licensed in N.America after being developed/invented here and sold back to the public/NHS because nobody here will fund the development in this country.

I'm happy with my package. Obviously it doesn't cover AandE or 'end of life' care though.
