With recent posts on this forum I'm starting to think some people are on here just to cause trouble and insult people. It's a real shame, I belonged to another forum that went the same way and it ended up having to close.

it's a fine line between posting off-the-cuff remarks about what people might say (and think) in a pub kind of situation and saying the same things online which others may take offence at because they take it all very seriously.

I plead guilty to all the above but then sometimes we need to have a few jokers (like olly and me) to lubricate the topics which are often bordering on the verge of "watching paint dry" with no humour and few participants for months.
Then as soon as things pick up we hear cries along the lines of political correctness and still I prefer to hear people talk like it is than to resort to this kind of complaint because their 'pink-shell-likes' offend them.

I promise to stick to the most perfect and admirable behaviour in future

I've been a member of many forums over the years and sadly they are all in demise. Other social media sites are taking over. I doubt anything we say here that's considered by others to be offensive, rude or boring will make any difference.

Agreed, there's been some offensive remarks posted of late. Please all play nice. Banter is one thing, but name calling and finger pointing is rude and ruins the forum for those that value it.

If you spot any over the top posts then do private message me with the details so I can deal with them appropriately. I don't want to, but it's a case of having to if people can't respect each other.

The smoking in cars debate is for the wrong reasons, it's a road safety issue. Juggling with a lighted fag at the wheel is just as dangerous as using a phone, or eating an apple, or drinking from a can. You can be fined for all of those, as it's driving without due are and attention. Lighting a fag, stubbing it out in the ashtray (mostly just chucking it out the window) should be the same.

Excellent point Mike. I haven't smoked for years but I remember being in exactly the predicament of dropping the fag onto my lap; a panic takes hold which can cause loss of control of the car.
