In the short time available it was always going to be 'May's deal with a little lipstick applied'.
Corbyn was previously concerned that if we left the EU and fell in with the U.S. we may be vulnerable to an equivalent of the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), recently rejected by the EU.
Workers rights would be lost under the TTIP and naturally British unions such as Unite and the TUC opposed TTIP on the grounds that it would undermine the National Health Service and allow for the further privatisation of public services.
Corbyn would prefer us to remain in the capitalist EU, where reasonable workers rights are set in stone, than being in thrall and vulnerable to the demands of the capitalist USA, where rights are far fewer and big business wields huge power.
It all depends on whether any Labour politicians can be persuaded to back Boris's 'new' deal, otherwise, since the Tories operate in a minority government, (plus with all the black-listed m.p.'s) we are going to be in Limbo for ever and a day.
Now it seems that the EU may refuse to grant any extensions that Boris is being threatened with under the Benn act and so may be wishing to wrap a deal up under the thorny Irish-border issue.
Gut Fawkes was hoping to blow the whole lot up and perhaps some may have congratulated him if he had succeeded!!

Corbyn will never be Prime Minister
Re: Corbyn will never be Prime Minister
Interesting reading your comments about Labour's fears about American involvement in OUR nhs (privatisation etc) and yet it was Labour who first introduced PFI into that organisation, with all the money spent on interest payments since. Those interest payments come out of OUR nhs' budget each year but Labour seem to have forgotten who to blame.
Re: Corbyn will never be Prime Minister
I remember that. Under Blair and Gordon Brown. To some it seemed like a good idea at the time. Wonder why the NHS is now several times worse ...
Yes, probably a patch-up of Theresa May's agreement. So, probably back to square one in a day or two!

Yes - Gordy thought it was a good wheeze to get all the extra building done in OUR nhs and it would cost (him) virtually nothing. Kudos aplenty. The fact that OUR nhs will pay for it for generations didn't matter - he would be 'off the scene' . I'm hesitant to say this in case Colin is lurking, but THAT, more than anything else, describes the corrupt Blair years.
I will leave you with '24 hours to save the NHS' (i'm sure I've missed 'OUR' out of there somewhere).

Re: Corbyn will never be Prime Minister
The Blairite 'Third Way' (a clever accounting swindle) intended to use private-sector finance to square the circle by delivering new schools, hospitals, roads, railways and prisons without the debt or inefficiency of the public sector.
The debt was still there (in spades) of course but carried over to a balance-sheet in the private sector and reckoned to be draining public sector funds for many years still to come.
Labour acolytes did not understand that swindle, too thick and stupid to believe that their own Party would try to switch the blame whilst servicing massive debts in the process.

Oh dear Colin. I obviously don't know your age group but I do hope that you are young and still idealistic as it would be terrible if you were another of those raging student socialists in an ageing body. Jeremy Corbyn springs to mind.
Re: Corbyn will never be Prime Minister
Two thirds of Labour MPs represent constituencies that voted to leave. In voting against this deal, Labour would be turning its back on the concerns of many of its most loyal voters in its traditional heartlands.
Momentum boss Jon Lansman threatened to expel Labour MPs who vote for Boris Johnson’s Brexit deal. Mr Lansman is one of Mr Corbyn’s closest allies and his Momentum group dominates Labour’s ruling NEC committee.
Corbyn says this is not Party policy however and no one will lose their seat but there may be consequences according to Shadow chancellor John McDonnell.
Corbyn states that the latest deal is bad for worker's rights but I think we discussed that issue in some detail previously, standards are still enshrined in law and may change in line with EU rulings.
I fail to understand Corbyn's real opposition to Bojo's deal, perhaps clarification will emerge today?

Re: Corbyn will never be Prime Minister
Corbyn has a decades long dislike of EU membership, but he also has a mainly Blairite party to control. He would like to Leave but dare not say it for fear of angering his troops even more and of securing johnson's position as PM. As I have said previously - his new electorate are NOT the horny-handed sons of toil of yore.
