Colin, you immediately and VERY predictably go off on one of your socialist rants. You say I am focusing on white girls, that is because I mentioned 'one town' which of course was Rotherham, though there have been dozens, and the victims were 99% under-age white girls. I could also have mentioned that all of those towns had Labour controlled councils. There has of course been abuse by churchmen and who would condone that? What I was talking about was systematic and organised gangs of men preying on those under-aged and vulnerable girls THAT is very clearly a reversal of a movement towards a 'civilised society' but you do NOT want to focus on that, I'm not sure why? What the hell has Mr Merritt got to do with my post - you are flailing around looking at something to throw on the wall to see if it sticks. You are the worst kind of socialist - you are blind to your party's countless imperfections and are interested only in 'what-aboutery'.
Finally , children being sent to Australia and Canada - what is that all about? That happened many decades ago and so what has that got to do with YOUR comments about us being in danger of 'reversal'? You and your like are the perennial victims and I fear for you come December 13th when you see, yet again, the country rejecting the Labour Party.

Identify the content that counts as 'socialist rant'.

I particularly avoided using any theoretical party or ideological points. You have avoided the concept of civilised society given that all of the wrong doings are to be condemned, even ones that happened a while ago - given that the issues are currently being investigated and prosecuted. The fact they occurred years ago.
You state "men preying on those under-aged and vulnerable girls THAT is very clearly a reversal of a movement towards a 'civilised society' but you do NOT want to focus on that," I have clearly referred to that inclusively. Why do you not want to focus on systematic abuse of all victims regardless of perpetrator?

Your" What the hell Mr Merritt.....' comment, further insults him as he referred to the deaths on the bridge being used politically to stir hatred. You are doing that very thing, not trying to act constructively.

Shame on you

I made a passing remark about crime in the UK - I am not very interested in what happens in Holland, Canada, Australia or Outer Timbuktu.

The simple fact is that respect for the law has decreased and crime has risen massively. Prisons may well be crowded but I believe part of the reason for that is short, lenient sentences - and sentences which are only half-served before release. Prison is seen as "part of the ride" and not too severe a price to pay. If sentences were harsher and longer, our streets would be safer, criminals would think twice and it might actually result in FEWER prison inmates in the long term.

Just ideas, but bound to bring the Colins of this world to apoplexy!

Colin - your every utterance is a diatribe against anything that is not a red-in-tooth-and- claw
belief system. Constant hand-wringing and protestations about 'services' and the evils, in various forms, perpetrated by those on the right of politics. It is both irritating and embarrassing in equal measure. As I have said previously. it would be amusing in a teenager - most of us start like that but then maturity drops the scales from our eyes. I, of course, condemn all wrong-doers and I think you can guess that my ideas of punishment would be much. much more severe than yours.
Rotherham and its many, many copies was brought into the topic by myself because of the industrial scale evil which was and is being being carried out. THAT more than anything demonstrates that we were definitely NOT more civilised - I was agreeing with you, we are becoming less civilised and that town and dozens more are perfect examples of YOUR point. All of a sudden you don't agree, strange? Now, Mr Merritt, who I had mot referred to in any way at all but has been brought into the conversation by yourself - he has a perfect right to grieve in any way he sees fit (though it seems a little odd that it should spend the amount of time he does on twitter and indeed writing an article for The Grauniad which is revealing in itself). What neither Mr Merritt nor anyone else has, is the right for THEIR beliefs to be allowed to put my family at risk. He has seen what his beliefs have done to his son, he would not do it with mine. Now anyone else you are going to dredge up? Mother Teresa, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King - come on Colin don't let me down now.

cbe, I asked politely for evidence in my post of a 'socialist rant' and in responce I get get silence, yet what you do supply is :-
"your every utterance is a diatribe against anything that is not a red-in-tooth-and- claw
belief system." and

"Constant hand-wringing and protestations"
"evils, in various forms, perpetrated by those on the right of politics".
"It is both irritating and embarrassing in equal measure"

I think that those phrases to most people would seem to constitute rant. There is nothing comparable in my posts of such wording. I have attempted to keep to facts, you go on about your thoughts, while ignoring facts. I have mentioned overcrowding, you ignore it, I mentioned lack of prison officers and support staff, I mentioned the doubling of prisoner numbers over 30 years and of longer sentencies. You ignore it.

Anything that does not support your beleiif system you ignore. I am willing to debate facts but you fail to provide any

Mr Merritt, his son, and Ms Jones intentions did not put you or your family at risk. Again you insult the memory of those young people and their families.

I did NOT insult them - can you read? I said that Mr Merritt's beliefs can put him at risk if he wishes but he has no right to expect that the rest of us wish to share that risk. Nor will we if we ever get a Government which does the first job of any Government - protect the people.

In January 2012 at Woolwich Crown Court, after Khan pleaded guilty to one count of 'engaging in conduct in preparation for acts of terrorism'. The sentencing judge Mr Justice Wilkie specified a minimum custodial term of eight years. But to secure his freedom, Khan would have to convince the Parole Board that he no longer posed a risk.
PM Boris Johnson has said Khan had to be 'automatically released half-way through' because of changes Labour made in 2008 to Extended Sentences for Public Protection or EPPs. This is correct.
In mid-2008, Labour made release automatic halfway through. However, the Court of Appeal could potentially have upheld the original IPP sentence.
If the Judge was unaware that Parole Board review was no longer a requirement then you wonder why he said that Khan would have to convince a Parole Board that he no longer posed a risk, assuming that is what he actually believed or said at the time.

The fire extinguisher hero who doused London Bridge attacker Usman Khan is a killer on parole who was friends with the terrorist's victim Jack Merritt.
Mr Merritt, 25, who was murdered at Fishmongers' Hall last Friday, would have been immensely proud of John Crilly, his friends and family have revealed.
The 48-year-old, who is out on licence after serving 13 years for manslaughter, pursued Khan from the prisoner's rehabilitation conference after seeing Mr Merritt stabbed in the chest.
Mr. Merritt helped with Crilly's rehabilitation and also ttried to help Khan but seemingly failed.
Strange to think that Khan must have been near Mr. Merritt (and Crilly) on London Bridge all at the same time.
It looks like the terrorist was deliberately hunting him down or a weird coincidence.

Was not Mr Merritt and the young lady who was also murdered not at Fishmonger's Hall as part of the meeting? Pretty sure they were stabbed inside there.
