Me and my boyfriend are going to England on Friday to find temporary - 2 month job. We were thinking about Brighton, but I've heard that lots of people have no job, no accomodation ( sleeping on the beach)_ _ _ I've beed to Hastings once, few years ago on holidays and I know that it is very nice city with friendly people. What do You think about possibilities of working in Hasting and where we can find cheap accomodation (for example rent a flat/room)? Are there many people from abroad trying to find work? Please, help us..

Re: Temporary work in Hastings
Hi Agata
There are plenty of people from abroad in Hastings and especially St Leonards, many have found jobs. As for where to stay, I don't know what to suggest other than phoning around a few of the letting agents.
Let us know how you get on.
Geoff

Re: Temporary work in Hastings
The work situation is awful at the moment. My partner is looking for a job and is looking in London as there nothing around this area. He actually has a job here but it's very badly paid. If you look on the job websites you can see what's available. I was looking last year and some jobs had 120 people apply. Many of the charity and council jobs are coming to an end soon as funding has dried up so more people will be looking for work.
There are some jobs in call centre for example Hasting Direct and Saga. What sort of thing are you looking for?

Hi Agata, we are thinking of moving to Hastings and have noticed that the job market is very bad. I would say it would be much easier to find temporary work in a big city like London/Birmingham/Manchester etc especially if you are happy to work in an office in London then getting a temporary job would be very easy through one of the recruitment agencies. As the UK is in a recession a lot of the big offices are only hiring temporary staff at the moment so there are lots of temporary jobs around. I am not sure what language you speak but again that could help you gain temporary jobs in a big city.
