Best mobile network for Old Town

Postby newfie » Fri Jun 06, 2014 2:43 pm

Which mobile network offers the best coverage for the Old Town (I need to have full coverage for work)?

I've tried:
[*] 3: no reception on street on much of George/High St and no reception in shops or my house (off High St)
[*] O2: no reception inside many shops on George/High Sts and no reception in my house

That leaves Vodafone and EE - anyone know which is better for Old Town?

I have EE and it seems to be fine all around that area. Their wifi internet is pants though.

EE is as good as it gets. Created from the Orange and Tmobile networks, they have the best coverage in the UK (including our beloved Old Town). As for mobile internet, it all depends where you can get a 3G signal. I think you'll find all the networks will be equally as "average" on this.

what does the monthly charge cost? for "EE" - I know Hastings people do not like to pay 'through the nose'.

It all depends what you want included in your package (minutes/texts/data). EE are more or less the same sort of price as the other main networks.

3 will give you the best deal on data inclusion (if it's mobile internet you want) but probably has the worst signal coverage.

I am on 3,pay as you go,very cheap but the signal is garbage,no chance of getting a signal in the old town.

I use 'talktalk mobile' for a v. low price/month and managed to get a long-distance call today at the back of the "Hastings Arms" but admit the reception is usually hopeless in certain areas of The Old Town.
I had just assumed this was the case for all networks.
Talktalk did not work in Spain even though they assured me it had been set up for "Roaming" it did not work in Cadiz, Gibraltar or Estepona, saying "no network coverage"

How do we map mobile company network coverage of certain areas, like The Old Town anyway - is there an "app"?

Not sure if there is a app Richard but it would be interesting to say the least.
