Has anyone had any problems with leasehold flats? What sort of problems can occur with service and maintenance charges, can the freeholder charge what they like, and rip off flat-owners. Thinking of purchasing a leasehold flat, so I need information. Have heard some very nasty stories about rogue freeholders.

Service charges can be extortinate. And you may not always recieve the standard of service that you would expect . Having said that get together with others and form a leaseholders association so as you can fight back . You are entitled to withhold payment for services that you do not recieve / are dissatisfied with e.t .c .
