How extremely well do you know Hastings help?

Postby tomjakes999 » Sun Nov 04, 2018 8:38 pm

I have a question that only a local would would probably know.
I wondered if anybody from just these two pictures could tell me EXACTLY where in hasting on the sea front this in on google maps.
Happy to send you the YouTube video but I cant post directly on here...

-From the pictures there seems to be a rock in the water..
-Seems to be a distinctive railing
-Seems to be circle things on the second fence which I cant think what they could be...
-under the fence there seems to be white lines. I thought perhaps this is cycle path lines They have visble breaks in them.

This will really help me close this case once and for all.

My curiosity has got the better of me. There are probably about a hundred places like this along the seafront. A bit of railing and a rock!

Why does it matter to anyone?

Hi that's OK ask away... I realise this is probably the most bizarre question you have seen on here..
I'm trying to solve a case that I have in my case file and solving this would close it immediate down....

At first I thought same there are probably about a thousand places that it could be and impossible to tell. It was then actually I started to notice within the video a few highly distinctive features that make it easier.
1. in the area generally most fence shape is distinctive and a little different as it goes down the coast albeit a subtle difference.
2. The circles in the previous pictures I believe are posts going out to sea. Again a massive marker for some.
3. Finally in the picture under the fence there seems to be some lines perhaps on the path. The lines if I had to guess are lines of a cycle path. They also have breaks in the lines which again make it all extremely distinctive. (see new pic)
4. Lastly the clip I have was taken from a car window so where ever it is, is somewhere where a car can park up and get the camera out.
Here is a clearer picture of the lines on the floor what may perhaps be cycling track

Any ideas?

I have to agree that it is the most fascinating bit of railing I have ever encountered.

I'd investigate further but I am very busy currently, watching paint dry.

The breakwater is fairly standard.
The rocks are common along to the St Leonards side of the Pier, e.g. Goat Ledge and in that area.
This looks more like the sort of murky reportage normally accorded to spurious sightings of the Loch Ness Monster!
I've never even seen a dolphin and they are known to exist in the area.

Does it really matter exactly where it is and why?

Well said! There are several bits of rock visible from the promenade - nothing so far to explain why this matters.

I have never seen a dolphin either. You probably need to know where to look and be there when the sea conditions are right and the wind is blowing from the south west ..

Thank you for your suggestion Richard. Ill check this out...
After I have the place I can tell you exactly what the investigation is. But I cannot say before I'm afraid.

This won't be by Goat Ledge if it's taken from a car (unless it's a council truck of course). Try the two car parks (opposite the RVH and right at the end by the bathing pool site).

tomjakes999 wants us to put a cross on the map to indicate the site of the buried pirate loot.
Once he has found the treasure he will let us know !
