what dogs do you own / love/ would like ?
I hear that cross-breed are best but many sound weird and pretentious :-
cocker spaniel crossed with poodle = cocker-poodle
labradoor crossed with retreiver = labrette
do you like big or small dogs ?

Favourite Dogs
Re: Favourite Dogs
I have a Rottweiler, he was a rescue dog and had him for 6 years. I grew up with a Jack Russell so the size change was huge! The only downside is mine was put into cattery at 6 months until 1.5 years and has many feline mannerisms but most people would love a self cleaning dog
Re: Favourite Dogs
I have a staffie x sharpei and a chiuahua x jack russell and they are the loveliest pets ive had (and believe me there have been a few). I had a yorkie growing up and he was a complete psychopath, i think dogs are like humans with very varied temperaments and there upbringing shapes them just like us. :S
Re: Favourite Dogs
I have just looked at my post above this one and i would just like to add that i had no bearing on my yorkie's temprement or personality and have no psychopathic tendencies.

Re: Favourite Dogs
youre supposed never to let dogs go first, for example, out of the house, or they get to think they are the leader and as they are 'pack' animals this would make them feel insecure as this carries responsibilities they may not be able to fulfill.
At least that is my understanding of their mentality, also with eating if they are given food after you have eaten this reinforces their position at the bottom of the heap
When they know their place they become more secure and appreciate the human being the leader.
Dogs with behaviour problems often have owners who don't understand this 'pecking order' and so confuse the pet by not putting thmselves first.
I wish I knew all the little tricks that you see being used (there was a series on TV with a lady dog-controller) which resulted in really unmanageable dogs being 'corrected' in no time at all when their owners had not even a clue what to do_ _ _
