New resident needs local info

Postby Lola » Wed Oct 31, 2012 1:17 pm

Hi

I've just moved to Hastings (Old Town area) and I would appreciate some recommendations.

I need a doctor, a dentist and dog friendly vet.

I'd also like to hear of any good Curry houses, pizza places and dog friendly pubs and cafes.

All suggestions gratefully received. Thank you!

Hi

Welcome to Hastings! We use 1066 vets on Battle road for our pooch and moggie and have always found them to be good. Harold Road Surgery is ok, some GPs better than others. I have a female doctor there who is brilliant. Direct Message me if you want more info. Bay Spice along the seefront is a good curry house. The vast majority of pubs in the old town are dog friendly, the FILO is really nice and always seem to have at least a couple of dogs there!

Thank you - we're really excited to be here!

The FILO is just down the road from me, so that's great news. Might try that later this evening.

Battle Road seems to be quite a long way away from me for the vets, but if you really think they're good, I'll check them out. My vet where I moved from was excellent, I'm more worried about finding a good vet than a good GP! I'll have a look on the NHS site for the Harold Rd surgery, thanks for that. There's a big doctors surgery virtually next to my house, but when I went in to register they said they'd give me a decision in a weeks time, but it wasn't likely - I was a bit surprised_ _ _..

Thanks again.

There is the large GP-Centre (Plaza) up at Hastings Station.
You can go as a "Walk-In" (visitor) or alternatively register as a "Permanent patient" on the ground floor.
The floors above are strictly for local people to register permanently.
There is a 'Sexual Health' Clinic somewhere upstairs !!

After speakiing to partner she has suggested the Hastings Arms, Java Cafe (not the best coffee and food but comfortable and dog friendly). There are also a couple of very good Thai places that do do takeaway if you like Thai food!
