Whilst the advent of phones and apps enables people to send an image of a holiday place at an a
instant (often a 'selfie' and not the place), the humble postcard that members on this site like to share, they are now beconing an historical oddity and could soon disappear

Whilst visiting Ellesmere, Salop last week I looked in vain for a shop that sold postcards of the town and failed to to do so. I resorted to buying a card in a neighbouring town of a place that I had been near. What is the world coming to!

In the days before the common availability of personal cameras, hotels and other residential institutions would supply postcards, for their residents to purchase, featuring where they were staying.
