Hastings Avoidable Deaths Rate

This is a rather disturbing report from the Office for National Statistics.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yue8KkL84RbiaiUUOKwQoxyPAhYTlhQOSwQkAz-AQGc/edit#gid=463899561

It shows that Hastings has the thirteenth highest death rate nationally from "avoidable causes". The report links this to poverty and deprivation. The twelve towns/cities with higher death rates are all in the Midlands, or further north.

The report suggests that average incomes in Hastings are just 30% of either the national average earnings, or the highest earnings (not sure which).

Scandalous.

IRT to the income column - that's the "rank" of deprivation. It means we're only 30 places away from being the most deprived place in the UK (30th worst out of 211).

I just looked at it again and realised that this is the avoidable death rate for MEN in Hastings. The rate for women in Hastings is about half that!

It's not good to be male sometimes!
