does anyone know who wrote the following for the Winter Olynpics?

I am the dreadful menace.
The one whose will is done.
The haunting chill upon your neck.
I am the conundrum.

I will summon armies.
Of wind and rain and snow.
I made the black cloud overhead.
The ice, like glass below.

Not you, nor any other.
Can fathom what is nigh.
I will tell you when to jump.
And Ill dictate how high.

The ones that came before you.
Stood strong and tall and brave.
But I stole their dreams away.
Those dreams could not be saved.

But now you stand before me.
Devoid of all dismay.
Could it be? Just maybe.
Ill let you have your day.

Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.

No idea Richard - in fact I can't make head nor tale of it.

Charles Dance speaks it on the TV advert
Dance, in his role as nature, speaks a foreboding verse to set a challenge to the Winter Olympic athletes to overcome its extreme elements.

Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.

I have just found this - I'm not sure if it is correct tho

It's 'The Winter Spirit' by Helen Fairbairn

thanks traceyleigh,

I note the attribution but on looking at her poem in the "Songs of the Great Dominion" (a Canadian Victorian poetry anthology) the poem is not the same at all.
Neither is the "TV" poem.

I think it must have been concocted for the Winter Olympics

Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana.

I think the Canadian advert uses Helen fairbairn's poem.

The official British trailer read by Charles dance seems specially written but isn't acknowledged as such anywhere.
