Alan - I can tell you that your man was at 6 East Beach Street as early
as Aug 1875 and that WAS his place of work too. I have spotted an advert
in the local paper from George Hemmings Watson. He seems to have been
a bit of a comedian from the wording . If you contact me directly I will send
you the clip as it is a bit too long to type out here

cbe managed to find things I had not located previously.
I have found another birth notice in 1871 when the family were in Pleasant Row not far from East Street and this site brings up the goods again because it has a pencil drawing of the Row from 1851.
