I was backpacking around England in 1972 and stayed with a Glen Veness and family at 26 the Slides, Hastings for a short time. Would like to contact him. Can anyone offer info or advice as to how to do that or go about it. Thanks

Re: old friend
Are you sure of the name and address because I have looked through Kelly's Directory of Hastings for the 1970's and there is nobody of that name in The Slides..I was surprised to see how many people of this name were listed as private residents..No Veness listed in 1948 in H.O.Lane but Arthur Veness listed at 128 and a Mrs Veness at 124 in 1939 and a Charles Venner at 120 same year
Re: old friend
I can assure you that a Glen Veness does live at the slides along with his wife.

Re: old friend
Thank U so much for contacting me re my earlier enquiry to try and track down Ken Veness. It is not an urgent matter of course. It was so long ago. I had not heard the area called The Slides I knew it as Hollington Old Lane.
I know his mother (or grandmther(?) was buried in Church in the wood. I enquire only out of curiousity really. Just wondered how his life turned out.
I lived in Wishing Tree Rd at no:24_ _ _the numbers have changed now I know.Ken was with a bunch of other young guys_ _ _such as Lew Collins 'Chub' Collins Dennis Gadd and others. Me and my girl friends at the time used to congregate at the top of Wishing Tree Rd by the pine trees and chat_ _ _as kids do_ _ _We were all very young then in our teens_ _ _.around 1945ish I think.
Would B pleased to know if U have any way I can just enquire how he is
He was known then as 'Peanuts' dont know Y!
If U have time and the inclination would B pleased to hear from U.
sincerely

Claverham/old friend
Hello I've been trying to find a friend from Claverham Community College on North Trade Road just out of Battle. I've been trying to locate James Pugh (Jim) who was a Scaffolder in early 1980's. I would really appreciate if anyone can help me find him.
