Milkman/Convalescent home and Workhouse

Postby lisa_lomas » Mon Jun 18, 2012 1:29 pm

Hello
I'm researching my family history, half of my family come from Hastings, so I know a fair bit but am stumbling across, or missing things that I'm sure other people may know more about than I do.

Firstly does anyone have any information or memories of the Lindridge milkmen/dairy? I know there was a house in Athlestan Road that had Lindridge Dairy on the side of it which is no more, but I'm sure that means the Lindridge's were well known within the milk departments as it were.

I've found a relative who was in the Poor Childrens Convalescent home in St Leonards in 1911. I know where this building was and is now waste ground but does anyone know weather I would be able to get records from anywhere for that home?

Lastly I have a relative who was in the workhouse in 1911 in what is now Frederick Road, is there anywhere I could get records from there also? I was in Frederick Rd on Saturday and whats left of the original building is a lovely old place and I'm sure someone, somewhere must've kept a record of 'inmates' as they are described as?

If anyone knows the answer/s to any of this, or you know/remember anyone with the surname's NEVE, LINDRIDGE or MANN please dont hesitate to get in touch.
Thanks :P

Hello Linda,
We were close friends with the Lindridge family when they lived in Frederick Road. I have notified the family about your request and will keep you updated.
Best wishes,Tony.
