Lost childhood friends 1956-1958

Postby David Saunby » Mon Mar 22, 2004 9:44 pm

In addition to my previous message, i was 7 years old in 1957 when i lived with my granny at 16 warrier gardens and i can just remember that the 2 boys i had befriended lived i am sure down a blind allyway near the bottom of warrier gardens St. Leonards.
I am now 54 and living in Cornwall, but hope to return for a weekend soon to see how its changed. I remember the trolly buses, the pier, boating lake and the minature steam train.

David
I was amused to read your email this morning. My great aunt, Lily Knowles lived at 1 Warrier gardens and I also visited her during the summer of 1958 aged nearly 7. I have been working on a family tree and have been struggling to contact my remaining living relatives in Hastings. Everyone from my grandmother / great aunts' generation is dead and my mother has not kept in touch with her cousins who may well still be around. This is a roundabout way of saying I wonder whether the boys you played with were my second cousins Bruce, Ian and/ or Derek Knowles all of whom I played with and are around my age? If you go back Hastings library has a great deal of useful info. We intend to spend a few days there in the summer to see what we can find.

Just a shot in the dark you may read this, as it was 12 months ago you posted a reply, and i have not been on line for a very long time looking at this site.
Please email me so we can get in contact.

David
