Genealogy studies on Hastings Stonhams

Postby Sstonham » Sun Sep 18, 2011 10:23 pm

Hi, I am researching my family tree, and it seems a large portion of my research leads me to Hastings_ _ _ I am researching Stonhams, and have traced Edward Stonham and his wife Jane_ _ _Along with their multitude of children: Mary-Ann, Jane, Edward Thomas, Alfred ((Biddy the tubman?)), Arthur, Harriet, William ((My great-grandfather)), Fred, Henry, and Elizabeth_ _ _)

William Stonham (1888-1940) married Daisy Hizzey (1891-1952) and they had four children_ _ _. If anyone has information, or is related to any of these people, please don't hesitate to contact me here, or send me a PM if you want my email.

Thanks,

SStonham.

Hi there, Tubby was my grandmother's Uncle too. Her name was Florence Adelaide Stonham Born 1889 in Ore, Hastings. William Stonham and Daisy ended up in Canada, where their one daughter Janet married a Bedford from Alberta whom I have recently been in touch with. He also remembers tales of Tubby Mills Stonham. have been working on the Stonham Family for several years now if it's any help to you. J Woolcott

The above seems all very confusing to me! My mother is related to Alfred (Biddy) Stonham. This is her Great Uncle. In the 1891 Census he was living in West Street, Hastings with his Father Wlliam, Mother Anne (nee White). His siblings were William, James, Joseph, George, Frederick, Richard, Elizabeth and Annie.

I've only heard him being called Biddy, not Tubby.

I'm in some way related to biddy. He's my great great grandfather of something like that. I remember my grandfather talking about him.

Well remembered Gerry.

I think this is the thread you mean...
The old man in a tub

And there's also this one that mentions Stonhams and Biddy...
