THOMAS JAMES ALDER, TOWN CRIER

Postby David Mitchell » Thu Feb 22, 2018 10:01 pm

I am searching for a photograph of Thomas James Alder, the town crier of Hastings from 1892 until 1906, for use in a book to be published later this year. Please can anyone help me track one down? David Mitchell

Thanks Jim. Yes I did ask the Museum. They replied very kindly but couldn't locate a photo. David

The Public Reference Library is a reasonable shot for that type of thing

The Town Criers Guild may be able to offer more information:

Otherwise Hastings Museum, as before.

Hi Richard and Colin, Thank you for your suggestions. I am a member of the Town Criers Guild so I have already explored that route. I have now emailed the Hastings Public Library, so hope they come up trumps. David
