Postby Marina » Mon Mar 05, 2007 7:32 pm

Has anyone got any updates on the council's wonderfull caravan site idea. I see there is big opposition up at Sandrock Park.

I haven't got a local paper for weeks so need an update if anyone can help.

After there was pretty much anarchy on the streets the council made a big deal of bowing to people pressure and said they were ditching the idea.
Yer right. They still need to find somewhere for the travellers to stay and haven't actually ruled any of the original sites out.
Super council this one. So many fine ideas up there sleaves! Did you hear the nonsense about the 5 E's!!

I have nothing against Travellers, but I am against the idea of a site up at Sandrock, due to the reason that one of the nicest areas in the Town is going to see a dramatic drecrease in property prices. Unfortunetly it's a percentage of travellers which give the rest a bad name.

As for the updates, on the front page of the Observer a few weeks back which said that the decision has been delayed, really don't know the full story as I just normally read the sports section.

Hi guys

I guess they can't all be bad news but in my experience the crime rate does increase near these sites. I remember when they were down by the tip some years ago. The cars and football changing rooms were forever getting broken into.

I agree, Sandrock has to be protected. Isn't that a cut through for the Helenswood girls walking to school too? Asking for trouble in my opinion.

What's the five E's all about Fliss? Doesn't mean anything to me.

Some silly mantra the council have made up which none of them can remember. Quality.

That reminds me, last time some travellers decided to stay up at Sandrock there was poo and nappies all over the path and a mate from my school was shouted at by them telling him to get of their land. I really don't understand their motives!

Lovely. Such a shame becuase that bit of Town is really nice. I wish someone would get on a sort Coghurst Hall out. Looks such a sorry state.

No doubt the troublesome percentage of the traveller communty will be up the making the place look more of a sorry state than it already is!

Well, lets just hope it doesn't happen. HBC are still considering the site down at Gylne Gap which the travellers think they own anyway. That little corner could'nt get much worse!
