Re-open the Hastings Ice Rink!!

The Hastings old ice rink holds many great memories! Many people are wanting it re-opened the rink so i thought i would do the first step.

The old ice rink was once located underground on the sea front in Hastings which was a great location; however it's now been left to rot and a massive space is being wasted. Re-opening the Hastings ice rink will bring back more life to Hastings and will attract so many more people to East Sussex as the closest ice skating rink is in Guildford which is too far away if considering taking up ice skating for a hobbie. Having an ice rink for Hastings will also keep the public occupied and is an activity for all ages.

Yes okay, count me in!

After seeing the popularity of the Priory Meadow mini ice rink over Christmas I can see that having a permanent one would be a good attraction. I didn't realise the nearest one was as far away as Guildford.

Hello my name is Marie Ferral and i would love the Hastings ice rink to open again!!

I think this is a great idea! And i think they should defo open it again even if it will take loads of money to do up but they will earn much more money over opening it; its a brilliant sport for EVERYONE and will keep the teenagers off the streets and they will have a fun activity they will be able to put their mind to.

yes! bring it back. hastings needs something like this to attract more people. it's already got a bad image to people from outside the area as it is!

My family would definatlly use an ice rink regularly. Although we are newcomers to the area (2 YRS) and never went to the old rink when it was open, I can see that his would be a huge money spinner for Hastings.

yes chloe you tell them! sign the petition everyone or you can pop into Hastings college ICT suite and ask for tom winch and then fill my sheet in. I loved the ice rink, it was amazing, then i went down one day and it had gone so PLEASE help get it back!!!! The nearest rink is in Gillingham i think so lets shut them up and get our own big rink in a big building. Come on Hastings lets not let this rink sink

I don't have the slightest interest in ice skating, but it's ridiculous that this building is being left derelict. The problem (as I see it), is that the novelty of ice skating might wear off fairly quickly. I know nothing about the technical requirements of such a facility, but it might be a good idea to confine ice skating to one or two days each week and seek out alternative uses for the buildiing on other days if that is possible.

Why do we keep building new things while structures like this remain empty?

What about ice hockey - I think this would be popular with kids, especially teenagers and would tick all the boxes: physical activity, team sport etc, popular with kids of both genders. If the ice rink is good enough people would come in from outside of Hastings to use it as well as being a valuable resource for people in the town.
