_ _ _.it is a bit quiet at the mo :)

Mobile phones still seem to be used by many drivers when driving >:(

A little story:
Whilst driving towards bexhill I stopped at lights in my van. I rested my elbow on the window sill and rested my head in my cupped hand. Lights went green and I pulled away only to notice that a police car was in hot pursuit. He pulled me over and asked me to step out of the vehicle.

"Do you have a mobile phone in your vehicle Sir"
"No" I replied (I thought honestly, cos I can't stand the dam things and usually leave it at home)

"Do you mind if I check" he said, and then asked my wife, in the passenger seat "is there a mobile phone in this vehicle"

"yes" she said "here it is"

I'd forgotten it was there.

He then checked the phone for a record of the said phone call, not finding anything he then checked his on board video camera and said it looks like you were making a call but he would check it on the big screen once he got back to the station.

He also said that if I was using a phone and was lying about it I could be done for "perverting the cause of justice for which the maximum sentence is life."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing :? Life?

I got a bit testy at this point and asked if he was trying to intimidate me, "no" he replied "just making the situatuation clear sir"

_ _ _..didn't hear from them again.

Well done to them for doing their job_ _ __ _ _.the delivery was laid on a bit thick though >:(

Hi guys, any ideas to promote the forum gladly received. We do well from Google and get plenty of visitors. Posts seem a bit lacking these days though. Your suggestions appreciated :)

Thanks Paul but the forum is 100% non-profit for me so there's nothing to pay for newspaper ads. Apart from the online promotion i'm not sure how else to generate more interest.

Paul, the phone number you pointed out was in the Observer this week_ _ _I shall give it a try if I see any offenders.

Geoff: Is there a 1066 facebook page or twitter page? that may help promote the website.

My impression [perhaps unfair - please do correct me] is that the site doesn't have day to day up to date info on what's going on in Hastings and St Leonards - most weekends there is something on but the site doesn't seem to have it. Am I right?

Hi and welcome to the forum.

You are right, I simply don't have the time to add listings for What's On to the site. Without employing someone to do it for me or linking to someone else's listings I think it's just a dream at this stage. The site keeps me busy enough already.

There is already a What's On section of the forum that anyone is welcome to post events in for free. But it's rare anyone does. Perhaps the event organisers just can't be bothered? Who knows?

Thanks for your comments

Geoff
