I agree - people should also come and check out where I live in West london, in a supposedly 'nice' area where houses cost an arm and a leg and there are yummy mummies everywhere. Go a few streets down and you'll find nutters, drunks and chavs galore without searching too hard, and I certainly wouldn't want to walk anywhere at night.

There is also congestion, road rage, crowded trains, families packed into tiny flats and everyone paying through the nose for the privelege.
I find it hard not to be concerned when I hear all the bad press hastings gets - but then I remind myself that it's 10 times safer than London, and there's also all the other wonderful things the town has going for it - wonderful history, the sea, interesting, down to earth, creative people, great architecture, a good music and arts scene, _ _ _etc and I just try and trust that I'm making the right move.

I've lived in Hastings for two years and think it's got an awful lot going for it
Look down from the east Hill and see !!

The walks along the Headland from Fairlight Glen to Hastings are majestic
People are friendly and laid back and are not always treading on your heels or rushing infront of you as they tend to in the London environment

I'm not concerned with drug takers as long as they behave themselves
I do have a problem with lots of folk smoking roll-ups like there's no tomorrow, or gorging themselves silly on cheap food and being grossly overweight
Kids being pacified by a promise of a trip with Mum to the local Burger Bar ! (so they start off fat at an early age)

There seems to be no urgent sense of Health Awareness !!

We are moving near to Hastings this Summer. I know it quite well although we live in Maidstone. I've always enjoyed a visit to Hastings. You are bound to get a few idiots, they are everywhere.
Saying that, we have never encountered a problem at all. Love the country park walks, the seafront is fun for kids
Most towns have a dip in quality sometime, and then the only way is up, I think Hastings is on the way up again.
We are determined to enjoy it, including our hobby of sea kayaking, fishing, walking etc. Can't wait!

I moved down to Hastings back in 1995 from Bethnal Green in East London, I used to hit the Clubs back in the day. But now? Most Weekends there is violence, the teenagers have a couple too many Sherbets and they think they are Superman. Yeah you could say it's like that everywhere, but we are talking about Hastings. If anyone asks me if Hastings is a good Town to live in, I'd say apart from Alcoholics, the druggies, the rubbish Bus Service, the Pier which burnt down a couple of years back and the fact that Hastings has one of the highest Employment populations in the Country, I would say that it would be a good place to live, it does have a couple of things going for it mind, Jack in the Green which the Council was talking about cancelling and a good Train service which most people use if they are looking for a good night out without the worry of getting jumped

I moved here from Sheffield 6 months ago,I love this town, the sea, the history. And the people are very friendly,my only gripe would be the lack of jobs and the dog poo get that sorted and its got it just right.

Enjoy life.you never know when it will end.

Send the social bods and crackhead p*ss heads inland and the town would be lovely. I am sick and tired hearing the numbers of robbery, violent crimes and burglary happening in a small town. The people running the town, police and council only seem to actually care when it's summer season. Both Hastings and St Leonards are filthy. Time for a big clean up of town and people! P.S to the people who say they have never had a problem with hastings/St leonards please tell me the areas because I am yet to find them.
