Hoping to move to Hastings next year from London. Having read all the comments I hope we are doing the right thing. One thing that strikes me though is the positive comments are coming from people who really LOVE the place - so I'm sure it does have a lot to offer. It depends on what you're looking for I suppose.

Hi Jennifer,
Check out Craig Sams' web site (www.craigsams.com). He is the co-owner of Judges bakery in the old town and the founder of Whole Foods and Green and Blacks. What he says about Hastings is brief but so true. It's a special place.

Paid my first visit to Hastings on saturday, found it a busy place in the run up to christmas, everywhere i go i have to try the fish and chips as i love them but tried the fish restraunt on the sea front and the smell of stale oil made me feel ill, such a shame.
So far eastbourne comes up tops.

what i think of my home town!!
Although I never lived in Hastings I spent a long time there as a younger lady with an ex partner as they were based there. I got to say that it is a complete dive but I really really miss it. I would like to visit again some time in the future, maybe when I'm so old im unrecognisable or the ex has moved away
Re: what i think of my home town!!
Hi been reading this post , just to say i moved from croydon , surrey ( or south london as some say ) to st leonards nearly 6 mths ago and hate it ( MY opinion) i was warned ( p.m ) alot by people on this website and others and didnt really listen , i wish i had and would go back to croydon in a heartbeat ( or when place gets sold ) , i find people very rude , unless you had been born here and no one has any manners , like i said just MY opinion , but think before you move here as its alot of money to waste and believe me londons much nicer .

Re: what i think of my home town!!
Come on Brett get out there and embrace the place,we moved down from London to St Leonards over a year ago and love it.The town is great with so much to see and do and the countryside is only a five minute drive away.If you have children you will know that the schools in the area are far better than any you will get in London.OK there are a few negative points but fewer negative points than living in London. My wife won't even get on a train back to London, she loves the life she and our children have and never intends to go back.
Re: what i think of my home town!!
Hi Peter, nice to meet you , just my opinion , i hate it here , my daughters school in beddington croydon, was lovely , i worked there as well and found people much more friendly and nicer , here people dont talk to you and look at you if you are mad if you say ' good morning ' !!!!! no eye contact at all , i thought it would be friendly but alas no , quite rude in fact. We went back to croydon for xmas ( all family and friends are there ) and was relieved to be around nicer people again , my daughter wanted to stay and not come back here after ?? Like i have always said My opinion , i dont want people around here jumping on me for a cyber row
like what happens so much on these forums nowadays . Thank you for your answer i just wish i had listened to the people that private messaged me and took their advice , and feel now i have been here 6 mths i too am allowed my answers to these debates ,
