Football in the street is not ideal and causes residents and road users a great deal of distress.
These young people could get hurt and they don't play nicely it's anti social football.
I have suggested a few ideas to the council but surprise, surprise they are not interested in my ideas.
There is so much anti social behaviour in Hastings and St leonards that you would think the council would be bothered in helping set up activities.
The police, council, schools and youth services should all work together to make hastings and st leonards a nice place to be.
What do you think?

It would be interesting to hear more about your suggestions to the council and the responses you got.

What part of the town are you from? I don't think i've ever seen kids playing football in the street round here (central St Leonards) but I guess it may be more common in Hollington or some of the estates on the outskirts due to lack of facilities for young people.

I agree that the authorities should work together on such things and also think that providing more facilities would help matters with anti-social behaviour.

The council already have set up activities for youth, Sport4U was set up a few years back to provide kids with sport and something to do and keep them of the street, just last year it was totally rebranded as ActiveHastings.
I have never played or seen kids playing football on a main road, but where I live it is a cul-de-sac and we sometimes play footy on the street as it's not a busy road at all, and I wouldn't describe our games as anti-social.

They play football at the end bottom of De Cham Road.
I have suggested to the council junior wardens, walking bus scheme or similar to take the kids to proper places and also more places for young people to go where they can kick a ball safely and cause no annoyance to residents.
To the youth service more activities for young people in the Southwater Area.

There are lots of other ideas but nothing came of them.

The young people do play anti socially but if they played nicely it wouldn't be so much of a problem.

Hi Gemma, I see your point now, I didn't realise it involved that much harrasment and no we're not a bunch a thugs down my road so it isn't so much of a problem down here.

Hi there, where i live there is a small football pitch for youngsters to play their football. I have to say i have never in the 3 years that i have lived here seen youngsters use this pitch to play football. They seem to prefer the road. Also there are some flats awaiting demolition and the youngsters seem quite happy to use these as a goal. the buildings are now in a terrible state and if this continues will certainly save on demolition costs!!!! Even if you give people proper play areas they are not always inclined to use them.

Kids have been playing football in the street for decades, kids make noise and are sometimes rude to adults_ _ __ _ _I wish I was still a kid >:)

football is a good way to allow kids to exercise, keep healthy and encourage competition in their lives_ _ _.

i agree they should go to the park, but seeing as the halfwits in government have sold them all off, i can see why they play in the road_ _ _.

look at david beckham, what a role model that man is!!!!
