Hastings is a seaside town and thrives on visitors, we don't get so many in the winter which is understandable. Hence empty pubs etc. The weather is out of our control unfortunately.

It's supposed to be like that, it's when we get to have the town to ourselves. You probably need to be born here to really appreciate pushing your way along the beach leaning at 30 degrees into a horizontal hailstorm and thinking "wow this is great!"

I'm a fan of winter too. Great place to live all year round.

As a former resident who returns from time to time for a visit I am a little surprised that the town centre of an evening is so quiet. Very few people walking between the pubs and few waiting for buses after the main shops have closed. The number of pubs has fallen in the last few years but that is something that has affected most small towns. The Old Town is slightly busier but even some of the pubs there are not busy.

APRIL is the cruellest month, breeding
Lilacs out of the dead land, mixing
Memory and desire, stirring
Dull roots with spring rain_ _ _.
