Football in street

Where I live young people now aged between 12-16 years old play anti social football in the street.

They kick balls against our house wall and garden fence.
The authorities have said we have to put up with it or move.
Why should we let young people kick balls at our house and garden fence?
The thud, thud, thud drives us mad and we can't relax. We have had this problem for 11 years but because it is a private road they are on no one is helping us.

When we moved here the road was all overgrown and we had a tree at the side of our house then a developer built a block of flats and opened the road.

I don't mind them playing nicely and I have told them this but they always kick the ball at my house and fence. When I ask them to stop kicking it at my property they just laugh, give abuse and carry on.
I just want some peace and quiet.

They also play around the back against a sub station and there are only
2 houses left my side that have not moved.

I know young people have been playing in the street for years but times have changed and it is not the same as years ago. It might be in some places but not here

Hi Gemma,

Fix an image of the footballers in your mind then mentally repeat:

I love you. I'm sorry. Forgive me. Thank you.

Keep repeating it until you no longer have a negative vibe about them and the problem will resolve itself.

We live in a private street and it makes no difference, the law still applies. Go to the police website and find out who is your local designated officer. Get them to have a word, and don't give up. You should not have to suffer noise, abuse and intimidation.
The council still have to take notice, you pay council tax don't you? A private street only means the council don't maintain the road, all other services apply, don't let the person you speak to in the council get away with playing dumb, they do it on purpose.
If all fails, write to your local councilor, they can pull strings and want your vote. Good luck.

As for Boston Rockbury or whoever, you are living in a dream world my friend. Ever had a football smashing into YOUR wall for hours on end? NO, I though not.

I used to live in Linley Drive and had the annoyance of kids playing football outside for hours on end. Continually coming in our garden to retrieve the dam thing. I know how bugging this can be and I think the advice MikeD gives is spot on. It can be dealt with no matter where you live so persevere and you will at least reduce the problem.
