No PRIMARK Roy , which does surprise me actually ,but we do have a Peacocks, which is about the same _ _ _opposite Marks and Spencers_ _ _actually the premises use to be M and S before they built the shopping centre on our beloved Cricket ground_ _ _.

Primark would do well, but where would we put it?
Another shop that springs to mind that I think will do well is, well I can't remember the name but I know there's one in Ashfrod and Eastbourne, basically it sells pre-owned games/dvds/ipods/phones etc, all for pretty decent prices, a shop like that in this town would do well I reckon.
Oh and a HandM would be nice too!

THE DEVIL WEARS PRIMARK !! >:)

This company hit the headlines with BBC's 'Panorama' exposing it's use of child labour in India in 2008
But then again I suppose worse things happen at sea ?

I heard the other day that the Retail park at Glyne Gap is going to have a Primark soon, (hooray!) Think they're going to close the Bowling place.

I have to say, I was quite gutted regarding the lack of good clothes/shoe shopping around here when we moved - thought Eastbourne might be better, but it's not really.
I agree about HandM, I think it'd be an ideal kind of shop for around here. Shame they didn't build an Ikea in Brighton - think the nearest is Croyden, which is miles!

But, compared to when I lived here previously, there is a lot more. The cricket ground was still in place meaning the shopping centre didn't exist.

Isn't there a Primark in Priory Meadow, or is that QS? If so, aren't they pretty much of a muchness?

This Primark idea is not necessarily good at all :(

One issue some people have with Priory Meadow is that basically it only attracts the local crowd because Hastings Council in the days of PM's development decided not borrow money for a development of exclusive boutiques and stores which could attract people who would now rather go to Tunbridge Wells or Brighton
In the current financial climate this may seem to have been sensible ?

'Boots' were the builder ? and prestigious 'MandS' were given very preferential terms to attract them into the PM otherwise there may not have been sufficient through flow of customers.

Some independant local traders were put out of business, at the time of development, by compulsory purchase to clear the area, and later by the large UK-wide chain-store competitors who were introduced.

Council Officials were blinded into approving the plans by exaggerated rates of cash generation, dangled like a bait from the usual pushy developers who made up their figure work with impunity

Their is always 'Peacocks' on the site of the old MandS anyway
