Thought this was a Hastings Forum

Postby DuncanB » Thu Feb 27, 2014 5:17 pm

I used to enjoy this forum because it was about where I live Hastings and St Leonards.

Recently most topics are political or religious and have nothing to do with Hastings. It seems to have been hijacked by people who like to snipe at each other.

Would be interested to know if I am the only one who sees it this way.

It does state on the forum page "Our public forum for Hastings and St Leonards in East Sussex is a free message board
for residents and visitors, genealogy, history and general Hastings chat." lets keep it that way.

Yes and No !!

I'd prefer to see people getting worked up about what matters to them than a field full of nodding donkeys.
There are plenty of opportunities for people to make new posts and contributions but they can rarely be bothered and so the minority try to make up things to discuss.

Also the major part of the Forums are dedicated to things solely related to Hastings and therefore you should allow a little 'free speech' occasionally on topics that the minority care to take the trouble to air.

There is a section for this and that is what happens.

I have to agree that I prefer the Hastings related chat, but I can see both sides. Somewhere to sound off about life is good too.

However there's been a fair few complaints lately about off topic chat and stuff not relating to Hastings at all. I think the solution is to start a new section for all non-Hastings Chat so please everyone, use it!

Agree with this.

I really don't mind off topic chat, it's good to see topics not entirely related to the area as it makes the forum more interesting, I wouldn't have minded the recent influx off off-topic posts if they weren't all about politics or UKIP being bought up at every given opportunity! Hey maybe you have to be of a certain age ;)

"they" wouldn't need a new section if certain people managed to use the forums a bit more.
I do, however, agree that UKIP is a bit too much to stomach all the time_ _ _ :(

I wonder what happened to the posts in the exchange between Gerry and me? It seems they've mysteriously sunk without trace! :o

No, just possessed of an IQ of more than 2 figures. In case you don't know (or care!), there's a general election upcoming, so political topics are bound to crop up.
