There used to be an old building at the corner of St Helens Road where it joins Sedlescombe Road North and just in from of Old Roar Road. It was acalled St Helens Maternity Home I believe. My sister was born there in 1957!

I, too, was born in Fernbank (1960) and lived just up the road from it. I remember the demolition, and think it was around 1975ish_ _ _

maternity hospital - where is it?

My elder sister was born in a Maternity Home in St Leonards, 44 Marina - it was run by two Misses but at the moment I can't find the information I found for her. When I was born, Warwick Deeping, the author, had allowed them to move the maternity home to his late Father's house up on The Ridge, as it was deemed safer from bombing.

Hi Patrick, where are we looking on Street View? The Ridge (which end) or 44 Marina?

St.Vincents, the former school is situated between St Vincents Road, Filsham Road and St.Saviours Road.. Overlooking the West St.Leonards railway station.. It also overlooks the Bexhill Road, and what used to be MFI..
