Buchanan Hospital

Postby jessie » Sun Jul 20, 2008 10:47 pm

Whilst doing my family tree I have found that one family member who came from Leics was resident at this hospital according to the 1891 census.
I wondered if anyone can give me any info on this hospital at that time and what the patients were treated for. I am curious to know why she would be treated so far away from her home.

This was a woman's hospital,at least when it closed some years ago..I doubt very much if patients were listed under the census,so most likely she was in the Nurses Home or worked in the hospital in some capacity_ _ _

Regarding buchanan hospital, It has been used for other illness. My mother lost a daughter there while undergoing an operation. This was before I was born. so it was over 50 years ago.
