Made enquiries at the Reference Library, they suggested that it is St.Andrews Square on the birth certificate..Nothing else known, perhaps he was baptised in London..They came up details which may or may not be relevant_ _ _I have posted copies on Flickr,do as previous or type in Bare_ _ _

Hi Patrick,

The George Stanley Bare in Sussex is my Great Grandad, it has the same index and page number I had. Not sure about the others although very interesting, will have to look into those. I noticed on the page for George Stanley Bare it stated (click to see others living with him) is this something I can look into or are they archives at your library.?

Many thanks. :)

I noticed you mentioned St.Andrews Square, looked into this and since discovered those buildings belong to the Salvation Army, I did speak to a lady there and she said they had been on that site long before my Great Grandad was born in Brook Street, although they are the second buildings to be built there, the first was called the "Iron Fortress".

May have to look into seeing if there is a connection, maybe he was left at the Salvation Army.!!!! :o

I think that St.Andrews was the name of that particular district, for the registration of Births etc,St.Andrews Road being the main shopping street before it was renamed Queens Road..The S.A. should have records going back in time, but how did he end up back in Battersea ?..I had a word at the library and they tell me that the 'click to see others on page' refers to other Bares such as George J. but is it not a coincidence that they were both born in the same year ! Debtails are from Ancestry Library.com,librarian said it was a subscription service, but why not drop into your local Reference Library they will most likely have fuller details and if they are as helpful as my local you will not be wasting your time

It certainly is a coinidence, ive been trying to find any trace of those people and can't find them anywhere, I even looked for the other George J Bare's birth entry index in the archives and he's not there!!!!! Only George Stanley Bare is listed in 1887!!! I wonder if they are the same person. Im certainly going to have to visit my local library to see if they can shed any light on this for me. I also looked at the parents stated on your photo George and Eliza and their other child Mary, unfortunately to no avail. The mind boggles.

Thanks for your help Patrick. :S

Hi Patrick,

Im waiting for my uncle to arrive home from Canada, he's going to see if he can shed any light on the situation for me. Then I will try Ancestry. :)
