A few people about seem to have acquired authentic-looking face-masks, no idea where they got those.

A scarf across my face is atleast a partial defence, better than nothing, and it also tells people to keep away from me ! They seem to get the message, most people politely steer a course two yards away as they pass by.

All the reports of parties and street parties are pretty appalling, I think there should be much greater enforcement. People are more selfish and irresponsible than they used to be.

If ordinary scarves/masks stop droplets from an infected person, who is sneezing or coughing, this may provide a barrier of some sort, but don't forget to wash them after every use and also mind out for touching surfaces which may be contaminated, tills and trolleys/baskets/goods in the shops, ideally wash your hands as soon as possible after every trip outside.
It is not a good idea to use masks which have become moist with your breath for any length of time because this can act as a breeding ground which helps virus/viruses to grow and then be breathed into the airways.
