Re: St Helens Hospital
Richard and Geoff - I have located the book at Hastings library, as I live in Eastbourne they are going to send it over.

Re: St Helens Hospital
Well done, let me know if it's a good read and I will try to borrow it myself at some stage.
Re: St Helens Hospital
I am trying to put together a book of memories for my wife Sally, who, as Sally Sparke, trained as a nurse at St Helen's around 1979 and celebrates 40 years of nursing this year. Does anyone remember her?
Many thanks,
Doug

Re: St Helens Hospital
I was a patient in St Helens for 10 days in Jan 1979, had my appendix out just days before my 14th birthday. I was on Ward 1 (children's ward) I remember some of the nurses I could name, but Sally as a name sadly doesn't ring any bells. I could give you a few names of those I remember if that helps jog her memory.

St Helens Hospital
My Great Aunt, Emily Simpson was in the Hastings Workhouse / Mount Pleasant Hospital from 1922 to 1972!
I have her death certificate but unable to find her grave – it will be a pauper's grave as no contact with family.
No record of her grave in Hastings Crematorium - any idea where she would have been buried?

Re: St Helens Hospital
Can anyone tell me where is the best place to contact regarding getting hold of historic patient records, from over 100 years ago, either for the hospital or the workhouse, many thanks
